These photos of the railway and the steelworks at Consett were taken in (we think), 1980, in the final months of the steelworks before closure. More to upload when they are scanned in. If you'd like to clarify or add anything to the commentary, please drop us a line. Some discolouration of the negatives. Thanks to Malcolm Braim for the informative descriptions.

Weymouth Station and the Quay Tramway

Some photos taken of Weymouth Station (and one of Wool Station) complete with semaphore signals and the famous quay tramway. The photos of the disused line show part of the Easton Branch from Weymouth (Melcombe Regis). We've estimated these photos were taken in the period 1976-78. Some discolouration due to the aging of the negatives.

Uxbridge Vine Street and High Street: Past and Present

Some photos of the two disused former GWR railway stations in Uxbridge, Middlesex, plus a couple of the remains of Cowley Station, the only intermediate station between Uxbridge Vine Street and the main line at West Drayton. We've estimated that the black and white photos of Vine Street and Cowley were taken in the summer of 1965, and the colour photos of High Street circa 1977. The present day photos were taken in March 2006.

Wednesday 8 March 2006: Some photos of the two disused former GWR railway stations in Uxbridge, Middlesex, plus a couple of the remains of Cowley Station, the only intermediate station between Uxbridge Vine Street and the main line at West Drayton. We've estimated that the black and white photos of Vine Street and Cowley were taken in the summer of 1965, and the colour photos of High Street circa 1977. The present day photos were taken in March 2006.

<img src="http://thumbs.fotopic.net/247026000892.jpg" width="58" height="120" alt="Ordnance Survey extract from 6th Series, 1948 showing the (closed) Uxbridge High Street station to the north, and Uxbridge Vine Street to the South.
Staines West Branch, July 1981

A few photos of the track lifting and demolition of one of the bridges prior to the remains of the line being buried beneath the M25 motorway. One of the photos shows the remains of the war-time spur that linked the west branch with the main line. There's also a photo of the surviving part of Uxbridge High Street Station prior to its demolition. The Ordnance Survey extract from the 1940s shows the Staines West line prior or the building of the Queen Mary reservoir and the coming of the M25.
