Uxbridge Vine Street and High Street: Past and Present
8th March 2006

Some photos of the two disused former GWR railway stations in Uxbridge, Middlesex, plus a couple of the remains of Cowley Station, the only intermediate station between Uxbridge Vine Street and the main line at West Drayton. We've estimated that the black and white photos of Vine Street and Cowley were taken in the summer of 1965, and the colour photos of High Street circa 1977. The present day photos were taken in March 2006.
Present day Cowley. Amazingly a section of GWR wrought iron fencing is still to be found.

Present day Cowley: A small section of cutting survives. The road bridge at the end of the cutting has now been filled in. Cowley Station would have been on the other side of this bridge.

A former Great Western Railway cast iron notice located adjacent to allotments. Oddly enough there was no railway here, so the only explanation we can come up with is that this was land bought by the GWR for their intended link from High Street to Vine Street.
